April 18, 2026 – Senior Honors Thesis in Biology at WashU

This weekend, I had the opportunity to present my Senior Honors Thesis in Biology at the WashU Science Symposium. My thesis, titled “Automated Quantification of Whole Slide Steatosis Using a Custom LiveQuant Pipeline,” explores an efficient and reproducible open-source method for whole-slide steatosis quantification. This approach demonstrates performance comparable to expert pathologist assessments, making it a scalable tool for experimental liver pathology research.

One of the key benefits of this process is its ability to reduce the time required for pathological quantification, which typically takes up to a month, down to same-day results. This reduction in time also significantly decreases related financial costs, allowing for more rigorous research without straining financial resources.

I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Daniel Alligood, Dr. David Alvarado, and the entire Warner Pediatric Laboratory team at the Washington University School of Medicine for their invaluable guidance over the past three years. It has been an honor to collaborate with you, and I am truly thankful for your support.

I feel so honored to have spent almost 3 years of my time at WashU with this amazing team. I will forever be grateful. I am currently working to get my research published so others can benefit from the open-source nature of my work.
